Northwich Quay Marina evacuated

Our friends moored by the Odeon spent the night in a hotel. Their boat is now at the top of the riser but thankfully there's no more rain forecast and they are hoping the levels will now go down.

Thats a fair amount of water....Ive read elsewhere its due to peak today. Hoping that all at Yarwoods and Northwich Dry Dock are ok.

For houses where the escape route floods the EA make it clear that their only responsibility is to warn you the flood is on the way and they advise you against staying in the house even if the habitable floors are above flood level. If you put that together what they sre saying is if you're stranded and something goes wrong it's not their problem. 

 

On a boat the issue is less severe as you will have water, power and sewage capacity for a few days (all of which can be problematic in a house surrounded by water) but I would still want a way off if things went wrong or if I fell ill.

By the look of it, they have left the sluices more down where the boats are stuck, the other are fully up. Hopefully this might mean they survive until the water level and flow  drops.

Hi guys .

We are currently residing at the local travel lodge after being evacuated from northwich quay yesterday .

As the river started to rise and block the higher entrance all boats had to be evacuated no one was allowed to stay aboard . 

The council housed all residents including the furry ones , also supplied care packages with snacks and drinks etc .

In 2019 we stayed aboard and the marina rose up to within a few foot of coming off the posts , afterwards the posts were extended about 4 ft .

From the look of it today the decision saved the marina .

Everyone is safe and the council did a great job .
