Wow that's a lot of water. We seem to have got away fairly lightly here on the Calder Navigation. Can't work out if the flood alleviation works up the valley are a help or hindrance. Maybe the rain just stayed mainly West and North of the South Pennines.

The fields near the river around Farndon are starting to look less like an inland sea . Flood water is starting to flow off the fields .as the river level at Farndon has fallen some 400mm since yesterday morning.

The flooded scene at Fiskerton has been seen before .

The river level at Farndon was at its peak, yesterday  , more than a foot (360mm) below the highest recorded level in 2000. So I expect the same is true at The Bromley at Fiskerton which, for those who don't know the area , is only a very few miles upstream from Farndon.

Yes lots of blue string in abundance, why would they do a proper job when they can bodge it?

They have used another reel of blue string on the pumps! We have our water supply back again.

Update on 25/01/2021:

Engineers have resolved the issue with the Pumps on Effingham Street, therefore water levels have resumed to a normal level.

Original message:

Due to the high water levels on the River Don, the Tinsley pumps on Effingham Street are experiencing low flow issues.

This may cause water levels to reduce over the coming days, therefore Skippers of all craft are advised to check their mooring lines and adjust accordingly.

Once Engineers are able to go on site and resolve the issue this notice will be updated accordingly.
