This mentions Sister Mary Ward. Eamon Andrews did a "This Is Your Life" about her. I wonder if the programme still exists &/or if its in the public domain. It would be good if someone could liaise with the Beeb Archives to get this out on a DVD compilation.

Granada TV produced a 13 part series in the 60's called "The Flower of Gloster"  ( not to be confused with Temple Thurstons book ).   The Flower of Gloster was played by Wanderer originaly Vulture built in 1904. A thoroughly enjoyable drama.

All 13 episodes of the classic children's drama series following three youngsters who, after their father falls ill, travel from their home in Wales all the way to London on a canal narrow boat. Along the way, they learn about the history of Britain's canal ways and the people who live and work on them. The episodes are: 'The Accident', 'The Cut', 'The Boy', 'The Girl', 'Betton Woods', 'The Dog', 'Lost', 'The City', 'Life and Death', 'The Tunnel', 'The Deadline', 'The Hitch' and 'Late'.

Another film I have never been able to get a copy of is "The Importance of being Albert."

A film about the restoration of the ex Ovaltine boat, Albert.

At one time it was also the Trip Boat "Pearl Hyde" named after the then Lady Mayoress of Coventry.

Picture from Waterways World May 1973.

I've been going through my collection of canal related videos during lock down and came across a dvd called "Take me High".  It was I believe Cliff Richards last starring role in a film. Made in 1973 and filmed almost entirely around Gas St. basin and Birmingham city centre. One scene was done at Wootten Wawen on the Stratford.  Cliff is seen driving a hovercraft along at a bit more than 3mph in Birmingham. I found it interesting to see the development going on around Gas St Basin in 1973

Various clips are on YouTube but not the whole movie.  You can get it from Amazon Prime and Ebay, my DVD was a freebie in the Daily Mail some years ago.

I have a good digital copy of The Boat People. I don't live in the UK but not sure of legality of sharing - or how that could be done.

I know the copyright holders would not want to see it shared without their permission.....
