Bridge 10, Staffs and Worcs.

Anyone south of  bridge 10 is now trapped between a collapse and the flooded river Severn. Note that the northern winding hole given in bollocks. Assuming the location of the actual stoppage is correct, there are three winding holes closer to it  northwards, including one at Pratt's wharf which is in easy reversing distance of bridge 10 itself.

Reason:- Large land slip has occurred bringing down a large tree which is blocking the navigation. Contractors have been on site but cannot at this time remove it from the water due to its dangerous position. Engineers will visit site as soon as possible to assess the situation to allow lifting equipment to be placed on site.

Is the listed one the last full length one before the stoppage, I'm sure when we were planning on taking the butty to Kidderminster we would have had to go on to the Interchange Basin to wind.

It's possible that Pratt's wharf is less than 70', though it's not marked as such in our Nicholsons. North of Kinver we used the winding hole between bridges 21 and 22 and it was plenty wide enough for 70' though rather shallow. There's another on between 18 and 19, but no knowledge of that.

Whilst we're on the subject, there's a winding hole in Wombourne between 44 and 45 that's OK for 60, but doubtful for 70, and one immediately above Hyde lock that works for 60 and I'm told, just works for 70, but don't quote me. It's awkward: you have to get the front into the hole in the sandstone and it's so close to the lock that there 's no room to swing the back: expect to be poling the front. Neither if those are in Nicholsons.
