And, hopfully, learn to NEVER, NEVER, NEVER moor stern into the flow - a ton or two of tree trunk hitting the back of the boat at 5-6mph can do an inordinate amount of damage, from simply bending the rudder to 'popping a weld'.

At least the bow is pointy and can deflect the trees, and, has a bit of strength due to the stem post.

Points noted about the Aire in flood and in particular the bit about the pointy end. 

We were down at Lemonroyd the other day and the canal was fine but the Aire was certainly licking along at a fair rate.
