*Boat movements suspended in Tier 4 and Wales Covid-19 lockdowns*

Following the Government announcement on 20th December some parts of England are now in a new Tier 4 of Covid-19 restrictions equivalent to lockdown, and Wales is in lockdown. This means that only essential boat movements by liveaboard boaters are permitted, such as for food shopping, medical treatment, or to fill up with water, empty toilets etc. Leisure boaters cannot visit or use their boats. This applies to all waterways in Tier 4 areas and in Wales. At present we have information from Canal & River Trust (CRT) about boat movements in Tier 4 areas and Wales, but not from other navigation authorities.

CRT says: “… moving every 14 days will be suspended in Tier 4 and Wales until the restrictions come to an end” and that boaters should avoid travelling into or out of Tier 3 areas, but boaters are still required to move every 14 days within Tier 3.

For information about which Tier different areas in England are in see https://www.gov.uk/guidance/full-list-of-local-restriction-tiers-by-area

Since NBTA  is sometimes (rather flippantly) referred to as "No Boats Travel Anywhere", this does seem appropriate!

Are you not confusing it with the "National Boats always Tied up Association" ?

Have a greeny.

Really, do you have any decent evidence to substantiate this?

I could look back through past threads and find such references, but I can't be bothered. If you'd like to, then feel free to go ahead.

Boat movement requirements are suspended due to a (re)developing crisis, and you're all arguing about the source of the news?

Yeah, that's the important bit ?

Relevance and sticking to the thread title are not noted characteristics of web forums. Or fora. A joke was made about the NBTA to which exception was taken, leading to mockery. We also joke about toilets, cruisers and widebeams. Let the humourless beware.

PS the crisis has now been here for a year, no point in moaning about it. And unless someone can remember to turn the fridge on, it won't be going away soon either (1000 vaccine doses binned in Macc alone this week).

PPS is a crisis that lasts a year still a crisis? Isn't it something else by now?
