Central cockpit cruiser canopy

Has anyone had any experience with building a solid structure to replace a fibreglass/canvas structure? My cabin cruiser had a central cockpit, I am hoping to replace the current canopy with one with solid siding and lockable doors, anyone had DIY experience with this kind of thing or can recommend someone who has? Without photos or if its a very well known design you may get more tips and ideas by sending a side on photo or the builder's name and model.

There is a picture of a centre cockpit cruiser with a wooden wheelhouse on the Norman Owners Forum.If you log on and scroll to "Old Norman Register"and scroll down,the boat is called "Festina Lente".

I would have uploaded it here for you,but I don't know how to do it.
