It is a bit regrettable  though I suppose inevitable, that those who fall ouut elsewhere carry on with the feud here  but it does make it a bit incomprehensible to some of us.

Not entirely sure what you mean about  "carry on with the feud here"    I haven't seen any mention of inter forum spats in this thread?

Possibly I misunderstood and it was ancient history on here being resurrected. Occasionally I lose track with some people apparently changing pseudonyms at random. So looking back, I think you're right. I claim mitigation of sentence as I'm still suffering post-jab effects!

No worries, I hope you feel better soon.

It's a most unpleasant thread., most of the idiots who have vented their venom have not bothered to watch the vlogs. Arthur is quite correct.

Even in lockdown I don't have time to waste watching any Vlogs. There is far too much historical stuff to watch ? ?

No, people are mentioning you in the discussion. That does not constitute making you a target.

Who was it who said that the one thing worse than people talking about you is when they stop talking about you?

People are telling lies about me, repeatedly, also same people make slanderous statements about me on here. This is not a discusion forum for inland boaters, it's an excuse for nasty people to say thing they would not dare say face to face.

If you want to know who made that stupid statement, among many others, try the jailbird Oscar Wilde, who seduced the son of some aristocrat , went to court,  and was jailed for gross indecency when other evidence was revealed.

Being a bit of a train geek I also follow this guy on YouTube.

That's interesting: I was aware that Crossrail was under construction, with attendant vast expense and disruption, but hadn't realised that it was now operational.

So far, the stations look a bit antiseptic. They'll look better with some colourful adverts on their walls.

I just had a flashback to when, in its first month of operation, I "flew the tube", as the advertising slogan put it, from the West End to the new Heathrow Central station - early '80s I'd guess.

Yes, Oscar Wilde, as confirmed earlier in the topic. He was certainly a controversial figure in his day, though far from stupid. That's another flashback for me: I remember Mrs. Athy and I having a cup of coffee at Le Café des Tribuneaux, where Wilde used to hold court when he was living over there.

I think you're being a bit hard on poor old Oscar. I'm not sure the seduction wasn't at least partly the other way round and the relationship wouldn't be illegal now as Douglas was 21 when they met, and was also more than a little notorious himself. I don't think we want to go back to the days when "gross indecency" was a crime as well as a euphemism.

Not all of us are nasty, most aren't. Don't tag us all with the same brush.

I believe its only operational in part, with the new trains running on some sections. Its faced massive delays and cost overuns (of course).

Wasn't that made last August?

Wasn't the message the same then though? no 'non essential' travel?

TBH we have swung between limited restrictions, no restrictions, massive restrictions I can't honestly remember what was in place and when.

I got in a couple of weeks leisure boating around then within the restrictions, so I believe not.

I think it was the 21st July that the restrictions were lifted (certainly in Wales) we were on the boat by the 22nd and the border (I think) closed again 21st October. We had to use the local escape comittee to help get us over the border early morning on the 22nd.

On 15/8/20 a whole mass of restrictions were easing you could have socially distanced audiences at events, casinos and bingo halls were opening beauticians and tattooist could give face to face treatments.   So I suspect travel wasn't very restricted.

Absolutely not - that was the period when we were all being allowed, even encouraged, to open up. Remember Eat Out to Help Out?

I can remember it yes, but I couldn't recall the dates it ran from and to.

We didn't take advantage of it (barring one pint sat outside a pub!!) if perhaps we had made more use of it I may have recalled the specifics.

Your accusation that there are idiots contributing to the thread certainly supports your supposition that it’s an unpleasant thread. ?‍♂️
