Buying a house didn't seem an option etc etc

Actually looks a good boat for £32,000. It was an ex hire boat so might actually pass the extended BSS.

The admission that she didn't know anything about boats probably sums it up. The journalist's knowledge seems limited to carpets.

She obviously researched her prices and boat....Maybe a bit of research about the amount of disasters that can happen to boats that are rented out to people with no experience may have swayed her decision...Sounds like she's got the cash to get it re-floated or craned out of a lock tho!.?

I would hate to have to bend sideways in that shower to avoid the tumblehome.

It's amazing but some people still put shower trays out board rather than inboard even in some hire fleets. Bloody bonkers innitt.

Something doesn’t seem to add up here.  She apparently has near 100% occupancy, but no mention of providing services, pump out etc.

What sort of mooring where?  She mentions paying for one, but what sort of marina would allow Ab&b?

Interesting point about hire boat licenses. Do you need a home mooring for a hire boat? This one doesn't seem to have one. Are you bound by the normal leisure boat license or continuous cruising rules. I bet CaRT haven't thought through that one yet!

Just found this on the CaRT web site

You will need a permanent mooring with facilities such as fuel, water, sewage disposal, commercial waste disposal, secure customer parking and a safe place to board the vessel. We may allow you to operate one boat using Canal & River Trust facilities, but we will expect you to have access to third party or your own directly managed services if you want to operate two boats or more.

Yes. This boat seems to fall between a conventional self steer hire boat and a fixed airbnb type static rental (for which CRT introduced a new licence category in 2017).

I assume the owner has to fill with water and fuel and empty the pump out loo between bookings. Or are there fuel boats in London that offer all these services?

And how does she provide enough electricity for customers who will be expecting to use domestic quantities of power? There are no solar panels on the roof.
