Imagine getting desperate for an overnight mooring at dusk with the trees in full leaf.

Imagine coming back to the long term mooring you have paid handsomely for only to find you can't get back on it because some cheeky 'so and so' has moored on a spot they don't pay for??

I doubt that will be the only sign indicating that those are CRT LTM's, they normally have indications at either end that you have had to pass to get there. that looks like a supplementary sign advising what will happen if you are cheeky enough to nick somebodies spot.

As the sign says, these are not 'free / public moorings', they are for boats with a mooring agreement and for which they pay £1000's per year.

That's if you dont need to go to the opticians, the sign reads like one of these, only mixed up.

The reason it is designed like that is to put you off reading it, as your eyes and brain dont like it.

The boat, by the way is not one of the scruffy ones - they are just around the bend.

But it is interesting to note that it has absolutely nothing to identify it.

Judging by its extreme cleanliness, is this not a brand new boat which is being delivered, and which has not yet been signwritten?

Pretty sure that most, if not all, of CRT long term moorings have these signs now....

The problem with this particular location is that the 2 or 3 boat length of permit holder moorings is towpath side, just below the locks. On busy days, boats queue there...."by mooring or remaining stationary at this location you accept this contractual terms"

Much the same above Bosley, there's room for a couple of boats to queue, a water point and then permanent towpath moorings. Gets a bit fraught at times.

Local Fact One

No boater in their right mind would PAY to moor here AND CURRENTLY NONE DOES.  Those that fell for it in the past have quickly given it up because of :

the comings and goings to the boat village just round the bend -  the strong constant stink of cannabis smoke - being immediately beside the "Picnic Area" so loved of the night-time revellers - boaters exiting and entering the locks using your boat as a temporary quayside or for ramming practice - not to mention the fact that your boat can not moor close to the side due to large Oxford Stones that many years ago all fell out of the wall and onto the canal bottom.

Local Fact Two

Yes indeed, the CRT mooring bods (who of course know nothing about the locality) are asking  multiple1000nds of pounds for a permit to moor there.

Local Fact Three

That boat in the picture is DEFINITELY NOT a new one waiting to be registered.  (But hey, if you want to post unfounded supposition on here as definite fact , then fill yer wotsits............................

Oh dear. You seem to be taking this personally.

The desirability of the moorings is not particularly relevant.

The fact is they are LTMs and nobody has a right to moor there unless they pay to do so.

It really is that straightforward. That is what the sign is for.

No I don't, and I didn't, and my wotsits are fine as they are.

Aren't suppositions usually unfounded?
