Steel plate deckboards? What do you paint them with to stop them rusting? It would need to something pretty tough to deal with the bumps and scrapes of being lifted and moved around, plus they must be heavy. Aluminium always seemed like a better option to me if you want metal boards.

Yes, but Ally has a much higher scrap value and is light enough to carry both away. Something to think about.

New deck is ready for pick up tomorrow. ☺️

It's a 5mm mild steel and they powder coat and paint it in the workshop.

I ll share a picture of the new set up when I ve installed it and then I ll be heading out of there.

New deck plate, who dis?

The new plate looks great and is keeping the water out of the engine bay.

To my absolute delight I also found a mooring in Manchester. The boat now has a home and feels a bit more secure and looked after.

Your panels look a bit like mine, except that mine are hinged at the front and rear, (if that makes sense), with a prop so they can be lifted and left open for access.

I'm not sure how difficult it would be to fit hinges and props, particularly when the theft was most likely a one off occurrence, (hopefully).

I have silly on my widebeam with locks and a wheelhouse covering it as well! In truth you got of lightly they could have removed the engine and batteries if they were organized

There have been gas bottles stolen recently on the bridgewater  one boat had the chain locker lid and a bag of coal thrown in . we think they thought it held gas It seems the perps had to be on a boat due to getting on to secure moorings to steal two bottles   Perhaps the deck plates fared similarly .
