Pie Eater
Jeddlad Don't let one bad experience with a Commodore put you off. Most clubs will invite you for a tour and to meet other members and then leave you to make a decision.
sueb
A friend and I formed our own boat club wrgbc. We affiliated to AWCC so we could leave our boats at a boat club whilst going canal digging. The only rule was that you had to be a wrg. The commodore wore a painted toilet seat on official occasions.

That means I can go on cruises and other activities, but I don't have a vote, or a mooring (and don't have to do the work parties). I don't know how common this model is. We're very fussy as to who we let in to be full members ?
