johnmck
We are on the Caldon at the moment. Whilst moving boats are few, a trip down the Leek branch found the moorings at the end, rammed. So we are back near Hazelhurst junction, intending to do a right on hitting the main line and down the locks. The turn looks a little tight. Anyone negotiated this junction recently and know the maximum length? Or do I just head for the winding hole and make life easier.
MoominPapa
Our one trip on the Caldon was quite a few years ago, and not happy, but I'm pretty sure we did that turn without problems with 60' MP.
Graham and Jo
We did it this time last year with 61ft. Cheers Graham

For having "sissy button" and using it! Penalty "Self-flagellation with a knotted mooring line for a week."
Sea Dog
12 hours ago, johnmck said: We are only a tad over 58ft, so will give it a go.? We did it about 3 weeks ago in our 57' boat. The vegetation is badly overgrown, so it's hard to tell what's a hard edge and what's not, and many a bend is now blind, but nothing that can't be managed with care. We took the bend at the junction in the same direction as you, and it should not be an issue as there's plenty of manoeuvring room. I did it in one iirc - there was certainly no drama involved. I'd advise not covering your eyes like that little monkey in your post though...
JohnEW2912
We should be up there in the next 10 days in our 58’. We’ve been a number of times and never had a real issue with the turn.
Tracy D'arth
Never been a problem on that turn, slow and easy. Last time I did it though, I picked a carpet on the blade. But the winding hole on James Brindley's left hand is silted up, avoid it!

hughc
It is possible to get a pair round. We did this with B&M campers and Banstead and Meteor. B.W. did bank protection work by laying gabions on the offside which reduced the width.

junior
You can get a full length boat round there. I've taken Halsall around there several times with no issues.
