That’s a neat design, but I don’t think it helps with the problem of your feet disappearing under the hull as you start to climb, so that you end up with most of your weight taken by your arms?
Unless of course, you have a very deep draught with a vertical hull surface to rest the ladder against?
Or am I missing something?

I got one of those ladders a while ago when I happened to stumble across a boatyard shed being emptied into a scrap man's pickup truck.

Never used it in anger but it seems to be a well designed item so I have kept it under the sink.

Nice to see an original black widow :) I'm afraid mine is one of the new ones.

I once took a flying pigeon down with my black widow as a teenager. It crashed into the neighbours conservatory. I used to melt down lead with a blowtorch and pour it into a 8mm socket then knock it out once cooled. Made an excellent projectile with plenty of momentum . Lead bought from scrap man. Probably stolen church roofing.

Conkers were also good and marbles.

And M8 nuts.

Only recently have I discovered the joys of ball bearings.

Getting trapped under the sink might seem a long shot, but you can't be too careful.  I'm with you on this one...!  ;)

(I'm gonna stop now before I reach my third strike) :)

Nah. His feet are going to swing under the U bend and he'll be left hanging on his arms. ?

I find having a "sink" on a boat is a bit of a worry so thought that putting a nice little ladder all folded up into a wooden case under it might help.

They do fold down nice and small these ladders. Quality design to be fair.

5 steps above the water line and 3 steps below the waterline.

To be fair, I did finish with “Or am I missing something?”?

Thanks for explaining what the something was, so succinctly?

*misty eyed* my original Black Widow, bought from a very posh outdoorsy shop in Edinburgh on a Scout camp in Bonaly, is in landfill somewhere after the local Police sergeant decided I'd get in less bother without it :( It's successor, bought a month later, lies in a drawer in my desk. Sadly its sticker is long gone but has the same rust patterning.

i fondly remember the first time the bands broke and left a lovely welt up my cheek :D
