We are just south of Polesworth, tethered to the bank and not moving! The majority of the boats passing us are not hire boats...

I question why anyone would even want to move in this weather.

I've realised we shared the water point with you at Hawkesbury Junction on Sunday.

We are now sat in the garden of the Folly Inn hoping their gazebos don't blow away.

Anyhow, windy, August, look what the Gulf Coast of Trumpland will be dealing with in 12 hours.....

Rivers are already several feet higher than normal, and the tide didnt go out this afternoon as would happen normally.

The storm surge will unfortunately cause more deaths and damage than the wind....possibly a Cat5 hurricane....

Unsurvivable storm surge with large and destructive waves will cause catastrophic damage from Sea Rim State Park, Texas, to Intracoastal City, Louisiana, including Calcasieu and Sabine Lakes. This surge could penetrate up to 30 miles inland from the immediate coastline. #Laura pic.twitter.com/bV4jzT3Chd

Saw this on the news last night. Fingers crossed it isn't as bad as they predict it will be. :(

It is as bad as they said it would be. Some coastal towns like Cameron will not exist now. Awesome footage from inside the eye about 1/2 hour ago....even though it's dark.

People were staying on against advice, even some in trailer parks.

does this mean everyone in this storm will die?  sounds a bit harsh?

The US Met office states that with a wall of water two stories high, travelling inland for up to 40 miles, coupled with 150+ mph winds, some of those who don’t evacuate are likely to lose their lives.

Latest news is that the authorities informed the public that if they didn’t evacuate then they would be unlikely to receive any speedy assistance and that they should put their name, social security number, and next of kin into a ziplock bag somewhere about their person.

Some folk who didn’t evacuate are already calling for help...

I heard that, you would think that sort of rather chilling warning would kick people up the arse wouldn't you

Excellent application of Nudge theory that.

If you don't believe your government when they tell you to evacuate, don't expect them to be able to help you later but do try and make it easier to identify your corpse ...

The next of kin may be unwilling

The hurricane has been downgraded to a category 2 hurricane and is weakening as it moves inland.

Yes, fortunately it did what most hurricanes do when they hit land and very quickly diminished.
