Paintwork repairs provider

Featured Posts

Hi all,

Long story short, we had our (syndicate) boat painted a couple of years ago and it was obviously not done correctly as we have a lot of "blisters" appearing. The original painter is simply not interested, so we are looking for recommendations for a "mobile" paint services to carry out some repair work on the areas that are worst effected.

We are not looking at "non visible" repairs, simply a service to grind out the "bad" paint, treat with a good rust painter and hand painting back the original colour. We accept this will be visible, but the areas we have been able to do ourselves seem to last quite well. It is something to last for another year or so until we get another (hopefully better!) painter.

We are based around the Nantwich area.

Many thanks for any recommendations.

I did have the name of a guy offering this (mobile) service but I seem to have lost it! Not sure why anybody would have a problem with this as they would not be associated with the original paint job, (which is the problem). We would be more than happy to "have a go" ourselves, it just the logistics and having the relevant equipment. (We have already done some bits and are happy with the results)....

There are several issues which make it unlikely they exist, the main ones are weather and distance. We needed to get some signwriting done to match so it needed the original painter, it took several weeks to find a day where the boat would be somewhere he could get to and park, the weather forecast had at least 6 hours dry, as we had no cover, and he did not have another apointment that day. You certainly could not do it as a business to live off, pin money maybe. It took 3 months of phone calls and several abandoned planned days before we got it done, even then it was not ideal weather wise as we had to cover the stern with a tarpaulin, as he left because rain was visible and approaching.

To repair and paint ''locals'' motor trade expression.  Do the grinding out, filling and de rust and priming ect.  Before you apply any top coats rub all well around the repair area with cutting compound ''T Cut'' on a damp cloth. This is to cut back the old surrounding paint to bring it back to the original raw colour as best as possible. Then paint your repairs top coats keeping well within the bounds of your T Cutting area. If you paint beyond it onto old un compounded paint you will get horrid missmatch tide marks. When top coats have been applied, a light T cutting with a wet cloth to blend. This should make invisible or almost repairs.
