I seem to recall that the M.C.A was a body responsible for checking and regulating passengers boats on canals. I recall when the RCHS West Midlands Group hired the Ashby Trip Boat for our 2008 AGM Weekend, the proprietor was not too pleased with this arrangement, especially as the bill included travelling expenses from Harwich.

In these troubled times, I wonder if the MCA has COVID rules for trip boat operation.

I don’t know, but we are in the centre of Birmingham at the start of the week and none of the trip boats or water taxis were working.  The coffee boat was also shut.  So I suspect as you would intuitively think, you just can’t achieve distancing with narrowboats.

The trip boat in Stratford Upon Avon was operating last weekend!

Perhaps we should make a list.

From the Mikado

As some day it may happen that a victim must be found
I've got a little list — I've got a little list
Of society offenders who might well be underground
And who never would be missed — who never would be missed!
There's the pestilential nuisances who write for autographs —
All people who have flabby hands and irritating laughs —
All children who are up in dates, and floor you with 'em flat —
All persons who in shaking hands, shake hands with you like that —
And all third persons who on spoiling tête-á-têtes insist —
They'd none of 'em be missed — they'd none of 'em be missed!

He's got 'em on the list — he's got 'em on the list;
And they'll none of 'em be missed — they'll none of 'em be missed

I've just had 3/4 a bottle of Merlot and I am a bit Brahms and Liszt.

Does that count?

Been blacking my water tank and I need a reward.

Indeed they do.
