David Mack Posted August 4, 2020 Report Share Posted August 4, 2020 You can get onto the bottom of the Weaver from the Mancheste Ship Canal. But to do that you will need to transit the Ship Canal either from Manchester, or from Ellesmere Port. The last recorded passage between the Weaver and the Bridgewater via the Runcorn and Weaver Canal and Runcorn Locks was documented by John Seymour in his book 'Voyage into England' and took place in about 1964. I first read that book maybe 50 years ago - and since wanted to make the same journey. The current proposals will connect the Bridgewater Canal with the Manchester Ship Canal; I don't think there is any current expectation of re-opening the Runcorn and Western Canal Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
