Gravel Barges Return to Leeds

It is important for these barges to return to Leeds as it continues the trade on the River Aire. I do wonder why the CRT has not done more in this this respect. In fact it would be nice to have freight traffic restored, or improved, on other former working waterways.

They will have to dredge the canals and rivers to allow the barges to work properly, and man the locks.

Good to see the waterways beng used for their original purpose. I recall a substantial exenditure being laid out to renovate the Bow Back Waters in Stratford so that barges could be used to tranport materials for constucting the Olympic Park in an environmentally-friendly manner.  I believe that in the end it all went by road, and barges were never used.
