I pity all the hirers rushing around the Warwickshire Ring in a week. The stoppage is too far round for most hire bases to be able to turn around and get back without being late.

That'll cause a queue then!

Currently about 30-40 boats a day travelling to/from Atherstone.

Is that the one that was broken a week ago?  We are setting off in that direction tomorrow, prob Wednesday before we need to do down Atherstone.

Beams snapping seem to be getting more common, hopefully a splint will get it open quickly.

Is the monkey the secret C&RT vandal?

Or even the Manchester Pusher, there are trains from Atherstone.

C&RT are under attack by the gate munching worms.

Trains! One does have standards you know.

Very low standards admittedly but trains!

Terribly sorry, surely you don't use (whisper it) coaches?

Can you still thumb a lift?  ?

You do have opposable thumbs I think, that's what monkeys have.

I know who was sitting on it when it broke!! But i'm not telling. Their boat managed to get through the lock - they then rangCRT to report the damage.

Ooooh you are a tease.

Ooh, sitting on a lock gate beam, that's naughty -- maybe CART will blame the whole thing on a fat boater 'cos gates aren't designed for that kind of stress? ?

Here is a picture of the damage, taken from Facebook.  Certainly looks like someone was sitting on the beam.

Clearly vandalism by boater, they gnawed away at the beam whilst the gate was open, they must have been bored waiting for those locks to fill now the side pounds are not used.

I always think I could fill them faster with a bucket everytime I go there.

Not been the same since the illiterate BW lockie was evicted, his driving around cutting grass stopped all the problems occuring and grease the paddle gear, magic mini tractor.

Despite appearances I don't take myself too seriously.
