Open again. Bliss.

We had to leave mooring  due to tree monkeys attending to reduce a willow weed down to a manageable height.

Cruised off to the pub, drinks by the lock, steak dinner whilst visiting a historic village. Live music, kaleidoscopic tunnel experience, and good company.

Latest update from our Marina:

From the 4th July 2020 Yelvertoft Marina will be open for boat owners and their immediate family to both stay aboard and/or cruise from the marina.

In-line with government legislation and to remain corvid compliant we have had to implement the following restrictions to assist in the continued safety

and well-being of boat owners, staff and the wider community.

It is now a requirement that businesses keep a track and trace log. Therefore, we would ask that boat owners wishing to attend the marina

either Email us the following details before arrival at our email address below or leave a private message at the Yelvertoft Marina Facebook page.

*Boat name and Owners surname

*Date of arrival & departure

*Total number of people attending.

not aware that Marina's need to do this but hey ho!  Are those in other Marina's having to do similar?

I would be so bold as to say that they have made that up, and there is no such requirement.  From 4 July in England most things other then mass gathering are only guidance not law, so nothing is a requirement.  They may feel its is good practice though. What have they been doing up to now when you have visited your boat?

We've had to book ahead...

If they've got a bar at the marina it might come under the rule for pubs,  but even pubs don't seen to know what they're supposed to be doing. It's another quite good idea done so badly it's pointless.

Then I would say that are just making up what they want to do, as there is certainly no requirement to do that at the moment.  Not much you can do about it except vote with your feet when your contract comes up.

If you went into the bar yes, but not if you just visited your boat.  I don't think Yelvertoft has a bar does it?  I think they have a common room, but under current and post 4 July guidance that would be closed anyway.  The guidance for pub/restaurants etc does say they should be keeping contact details for 21 days.  It is up to them how they do it, they could simply ask people to write their name and phone number on a piece of paper  (similar to when you buy diesel for example) if they wanted to keep it low tech, or require use of an app or web site to log details.

Another thought, most marinas would have CCTV that would record vehicles entering and leaving site, so that would be enough to identify who was on site if need be.

Borrowed car, hire car, 6 people in car, 3 nurses, a donkey and Dominic Cummings in a car.....yeah, great CCTV...

Still going to be able to fine out who was driving the car and then who was in it though.  That is assuming the track and trace lot actually have the powers to do that.

Most CCTV loops and then overwrites itself. I presume the record is for tracing contacts if someone comes down with Covid and,as usual, having it all on a bit of paper is less work and trouble than mucking about with computers. If the paper's dated, 3 weeks later you bin it, which is also quicker and less bother than deleting files and footage. You could argue they are doing to protect staff and other marina users, whether or not it's required.

And dont forget to inform everyone under the Data Protection Act  that you are holding information on them and that they agree to it
