Watch out on those Rivers

Some incredible rainfall totals being seen yet again over very short periods with the thunderstorms from the Midlands up to Wales and the NW.

The top end of the Trent flooded last night near Stoke, and Leicester has now seen 3 days of major thunderstorms.

Watch out on the rivers, and even the canals if local events can lead to raised levels.

In Bideford we had half a months rain overnight the other night and its rained every day since.

All the water butts have refilled and ground is wet, still got a few days more rain to come.

Guess when I can move the boat in a couple of weeks time there will be SSA on the Nene :(

Lincoln 16:30 to 17:30 absolute cloudburst.

Water running down the drive in waves, thunder and lightening and the widow glass flexing.

We got it about an hour later in Worksop.

Could do with more where that came from. Our garden is parched.

Had some potatoes, broad beans, courgettes, rocket and radishes so far.  Potato plants were overhanging path so dug 2 up still 20 plus to go. Looking at thinning the Kale end of this week. Still got some Broccoli, Tomatoes and other bits in mini greenhouse waiting to go in but have to wait until a week or so until I clear a bed of spuds. ;)

On the farm where we're based the farmer has had a terrible time.  60 acres of potatoes dug up and destroyed and now winter wheat about a third of the height it should be at this time of the year. Either heavy rainfall stopping harvesting, McCains shutting down their production, or drought stopping anything from growing.

We've had over 2 hours of heavy rain complete with thunder and lightening here at Tafts Wharf near Rugeley with no sign of it easing up yet. The Trent was noticeably up and fast flowing this afternoon before all this so expect some flooding over the meadows in the morning.

Except heavy rainfall doesn’t work - it just runs off. 25mm in an hour yesterday and it’s only penetrated about an inch.

Still not much rain at all here. very hot and dry as a bone. I can hear thunder in the distance so expecting a couple of inches later. It will be inches here as I live in England and have just been for a drive int camper, we passed some speed limit signs in mph and the first road sign I saw said Bicester 6 miles.
