"During the afternoon, a blue plaque was also placed on Tom Rolt’s birthplace, 7 South View, Eaton Road, commemorating the fact that he was born in Chester in 1910"

Many thanks.. for this.

I am sat on the boat today, reading his Autobiography "Landscape with Machines". It doesn't reveal the house number, but I did learn that Tom Rolt first travelled on Cressy in 1930, when it was steam powered.

Born 11th February 1910 at 7 South View, Eaton Road, Chester.

His third book in the trilogy is different, ' Landscape With Figures' which delves into his narrow gauge railway involvements and Sports car activities. A good read also. 'Landscape with Canals' is my favourite. Far less romantic than 'Narrow Boat'.
