Price varies on length but the 'bigger sizes' (such as most NB's) are around £1200 pa. which, as you say will be somewhere close to Band A Council Tax

Some friends used to moor there and liked to do very extended cruising in the summer which was also against the rules so they had to seek special permission. The mooring is a right to moor but not a reserved spot so whenever they left and returned they would likely find that their spot had gone, or at least shrunk. I believe that people getting a mooring and then upgrading to a longer boat was a problem.

I’m hoping to find a boat that is in useable condition that I can learn as I go with the restoration job.

Are you planning to 'cruise the canals' or are you looking for a 'floating flat' ?

If the latter then maybe consider 'real boats' rather than either narrow or wide canal boats. A lot more boat for your money !!

Depending on what you view as being a restoration job, this can be got for your budget, have it delivered to Bristol and still have a bit of cash left to start fitting it out with engine (If you want an engine) and accommodation.

Think of the history !!

Probably a more realistic option would be this one at £30,000

Just needs updating on the woodwork (painting or re-varnishing) and already a liveaboard.
