We seem to have the same sense of humour as well as the same taste in boats!

Indeed!  Apart from Auriga I spent a good couple of minutes admiring Zulu from the towpath at Alvecote.    A lovely looking boat  ?

Same surname too!

Hmmmmmm - I just typed "I hope you are having fun" - not appropriate but hopefully you know what I mean - keep safe

I know what you mean.   But still, I'm having some fun despite pandemics, lockdowns etc.  :)

And thank you  Likewise, keep safe!

Is AURIGA an Orion boat? I can't decide...

I was told that it is an Orion by, I think, the owner. He was checking that mine was.

Seems highly likely then! The bow shape looks the same as mine, but that cratch cover completely changes the look of an Orion.

Yes Auriga's an Orion.  Two water pumps and everything :)

Yes it does.

I find the cratch cover extremely useful but it does absolutely nothing for the look of the boat.  I love the look of the Orions I've seen without cratch covers.

But as a live aboard I have to find that balance between practicality and aesthetics

Brilliant! This excerpt and most of the rest too. All your own work? For entertainment value it rivals Starcoaster's legendary liveaboard post of gawdknowshowmany years ago.

Sad addendum: i DID have a saucepan handle whose screws needed tightening. BUT NOT ANY MORE.
