It’s lovely isn’t it- unwisely we decided to trail the Elsan over the pedestrian crossings having overshot the turn. I think we will reverse under the bridge and into the basin next time..

The FM &C sign is impressive too. Similarly sunny day earlier in April when an ice cream seller would have been handy

Reminds me of the Camden Market site in the 1960's &70's before it took off.
Never been inside, it all looked very unfriendly intriguing but unfriendly.
Love to see a few more pic's please.

Easier to moor on the main line just south of the entrance to the wharf. There is a door with a standard BWB key/lock and the waterpoint is just inside. The elsan unit is on a few metres further than if you were inside - which is not often available anyway.

Ann(e) with or without the 'e'?

With or without an 's'?

With or without a possessive apostrophe?

'Ing' or 'Ings'?

spacer.pngThat's twelve possibilities. (Ann Anne; (space) s 's; Ing Ings)  Hmmmm.

St Ann Ings Lock : At least C&RT are consistent with the old BW sign (14Mar2013), which agree on this version.

St Ann's Ing Lock : is used by my 1998 Nicholson's, my 1966 BW Cruising Booklet and 1904 Bradshaw's. Also agrees with OS County maps and Town Plans (all pre-1939)

St Anne's Ing Lock : Lewis Edwards' 1950 edition of Inland Waterways of Great Britain has this, which agrees with Canalplan's page title.

St Anns Ing Lock : As quoted above, Canalplan also has a postal address, which has this and agrees with Open Street Maps

St Anne Ings Lock :  My link - because I recall some correspondence with @Pluto about BW signs at Fall Ing/s Lock (C+H) - who may know the provenance of the various options here ...

Tradition holds that St. Anne is the mother of the Virgin Mary; "The story of St Annes Cathedral ..." (the Cathedral Church of the Roman Catholic diocese of Leeds) on their website says the building "...opened in October 1838. It was dedicated to St Anne in honour of Anne Humble, the late sister of Grace and Sarah Humble the principal benefactors of the new church" That gives us two Annes, but not necessarily two Saint Annes. ... The Nice MrGoogle has an adjacent street as "St Annes Street" but I can see no roadname signs to confirm which version the Highway Authority prefers.

Today, Newark.

Didn't see a single boat on the move and the lockie hasn't penned a single boat all day.

Loads of free moorings as well.

A bit busier last couple of day, boats moving and moorings full both sides of the bridge.
