I'd never heard of David Oluwale until my daughter went to look at Leeds Beckett as her choice of university, one of the students who gave us the tour had worked on his story for her degree. It's a sad tale.

Yesterday- visiting by car. Gave us time to walk under a much repaired railway bridge over a footpath by the middle lock that leads over the concrete bridge. 

One side it’s older looking bricks. Several repairs have taken place including a lowered arch. On the other is Staffordshire blue engineering bricks which don’t appear to have needed much repair. Presumably the line widening is when the engineering bricks were added. 

The footpath can be made to a circular one returning on a small road “Ugly bridge road” that is bridge 52 lower down the flight. Presumably the earlier bridge was ugly?

DanielAdamson last public trip of the year planned to travel from ActonBridge on the River Weaver through Marsh Lock on to the Manchester Ship Canal, then down the River Mersey to the Liverpool commercial docks through Gladstone Lock and a winter mooring.

 

Sadly three hours of effort by C&RT people could not combat a leak in the top gate/cill and we had to retreat and return to ActonBridge. Particularly frustrating because of the 1998 trip to the IWA national rally at Salford Quays had to wind below Marsh lock and use DelamereDock instead.
