Replacement 'beam' was planks on either side of the original sawn-off and shortened beam, separated by cross-pieces and studs and nuts to hold to the original beam, and at a higher angle to it. Fuel for the discussion whether these are primarily balance beams or operating levers. The end of the original and its handle is on the ground.

"No overnight mooring in flight"... but doesn't tell us why not - eg whether the flight is more leaky than others hereabouts, and the intervening pounds are long-ish ...

Aynho Weir Lock No 33 (SOxford) has a river level indicator above the lock to warn ascending boats of hazardous river levels, while descending boats entering the river section are promised an indicator board under bridge 187, just below Nell Bridge Lock No 32 ...

Sadly there is no sign of an indicator board under the bridge ...

Sadly the CRT stoppage notice only knows of the slowly working paddle in the Top gate paddle housing not functioning correctly due to the unidentified defect, and nothing about the padlock _sigh_

Banbury has a complicated relationship with its busstation: its first required the canal basin to be filled-in; and it moved to its current position to make way for a shopping centre.  Today's rain made a bid to reclaim it for the waterways. This bus did eventually leave with passengers aboard ... The waterspout was probably just too much rainwater for the sewerage system to cope ...
