also Weymouth Harbour yesterday afternoon.

Sadly I'm not an expert in white boats, of which the harbour had a lot: the NiceMrGoogle found me this site: https://www.nordhavneurope.com/news/nordhavn-43-in-weymouth/  saying this is Nordhavn 43#25, ‘Zephyros’ including this pic:

No boat yet in sight ... time to look at the interesting bits of the lock ... ladder design ... the large walkways inside the gates. Hmmmm could catch the tiller maybe ....

spacer.png

... and the top gates have ladders each side ...

spacer.png

... and only the width of the beam at this end ...

spacer.png

''' and the paddle gear with tab-on-chain to keep them raised ....

spacer.png

... and a lockable gate on the by-pass ...

spacer.png

... and the pound above ...

spacer.png

.... and some towingpath vegetation ...

spacer.png

leads to another lock of very similar design ...

spacer.png

... with the - just one - ladder closer to the top gates here. The boat hasn't found its way up here yet Hmmmm ...

spacer.png

.... and no enthusiasm for towingpath cycling hereabouts ...

.... Has to be the Bude Canal Locks 2 (Rodds Bridge Lock) and 3 (Whalesborough Lock), a mile and a then a bit more above the tidal lock. Maybe there wasn't a boat after all: that bridge (Rodds Bridge ) looks a bit low ... Regeneration project description here

Website here says that "In 1807, ... Manning bought a large section of land ... and began to tidy it up by digging a canal to contain the stream within straight banks. ... in 1810 there was a flood caused by melting snow ... and the Lawn was washed away along with several houses and two ponies. The next year, Manning reinstated the canal..."
