The Aylesbury Arm Lift Around

The return journey.

Willowbridge Marina to the just occupied Circus Field Basin Aylesbury

(The outbound journey in April was from Aylesbury Town Basin)

All because of the serious failure of Buckland Lock in March 2013 resulted in an 8 month closure of the arm just as the Aylesbury Canal Society was vacating the old town basin to its new site prior to completion of it's new clubhouse and dock building

A little while later, HM, sidesaddled, completing her ceremonial inspection, focussed on the gap in the ... line, most probably in the spirit of TheShowMustGoOn.

The pics filled the gaps in memory ...

Today in 2017 we are climbing up the Ouche valley on the Burgundy canal. Here at Velars Sur Ouche there is one of the few places I know of where you can stop outside a supermarket. This chain is also the cheapest for diesel.

Last Saturday down here in Auckland NZ we had the last race of the winter series of our classic yacht fleet.

On the 128 year old Waitangi we had the video cinematographer from the RNZYS on board

A link to the video.

Tuesday was back to work on the boat, bringing as much of our 26ft long bowsprit on board as possible, then Wednesday scraping, sanding in preparation for 12 coats of varnish to be applied hopefully in time for the next season opening race in a couple of weeks time.
