Flooding at Riverside Lane which runs next to the River Leven in West Dunbartonshire. The Leven is almost 12 km long, flowing from Loch Lomond, from which it is the only outlet, to the River Clyde. An LED sign hereabouts warned of this high-tide flooding.

The C&RT sign is on the wall visible under the bridge. The older triangular (heritage) signs and numbering on the parapet have never created any enthisiasm for preservation from C&RT or its predecessors (imho)

I do like the old Bridge No's and designs.
I love the No's on the Witham Navigable Drains & feel it worth replacing the missing ones.
They are as important as Mile Posts.

I have yet to work out the font, any suggestions ???

I have a confession.

Once upon a time I used to occasionally visit "Thunderboat"

Not for it's posts, which I too often found unpleasant in manner.

But for it's photographs, compared to the then sparse offerings on this site.

I yearned for more, which provoked my request that initiated this thread.

And I have just accused somebody else on another thread of nostalgia!

Now this thread, has become a wonderful modern history reference  resource, and constant source of eye candy.

It certainly has far outgrown my modest expectations thanks to the many contributors, but especially to Peter Scott who has contributed so many cross referenced photos.

It is an anchor thread on this forum, for me and I suspect for many others.

All because once upon a time, Thunderboat was actually better, in this regard.
