The A1M was murder today too. Leeds festival goers had it jammed up both ways.

I think we got away lightly. Queues got up to 13 miles one way and 7 the other. We were not queuing for that long, although it felt like miles at the time 😕

Sat nav drove us straight into it as it said it was the quickest route home.

Just the chance, then, for a leisurely view of all the boats on the River Ure at Boroughbridge crossing (as seen by the nice Mr Google) looking east (from A168) then west

Yesterday the M6 was slow but mostly still moving. But there were tailbacks queuing back into the slow lane at the entries to Knutsford and Sandbach services.

Tempted with a possible 'Tonic' subtheme of motorway-waterway crossings, serendipitously typed "Sandbach" into the photo database that the nice MrGoogle keeps for me:

23 Aug 2003 at IWA National Rally at Beale Park on the River Thames:

25 June 2011 at Braunston

spacer.pngspacer.png19Dec2013, remembering that the nice MrGoogle reads (OCRs) any text in a picture and then catalogues it for later retrieval:

And 25June 2106 with new owners at Braunston Historic Boat parade:

27 August 2018 St Neots Great Ouse IWA Festival of Water.

Conclusion: boats are more entertaining than motorways. Although there may be someone along in a mo with a really interesting view of Sandbach services 🙂

Fro the days when wire cable was used for making fast. Terrible stuff, and dangerous. I inherited some when I bought the Secunda You had to wear gloves, and check regularly for strands that might have parted. Artificial fibre ropes took over, to the relief of all concerned.
