On this day in 2012.

Whalley Bridge. One of the boaters moored there was doing something incredibly smelly with a pump out tank, so I broke my record for winding Iron Snail and left within minutes of arriving.

Bugsworth Basin. Not smelly at all.

Huddersfield  The bypass bridge  Compare 17Apr1979 which had it as Firth Street Bridge, as in Nicholsons (in , at least, the 2003 edition), which has also been restated by Canalplan

Firth Street?  I've always known that as Wakefield Road bridge.

... and BW/CRT seem to agree.  Similarly OpenStreetmap  Firth Street is some distance away.

spacer.pngThe Bridge number is also confusing: Huddersfield Canal Society researched the numbers used on both Narrow and Broad, and created, with BW, a set of bridge plates which has this as bridge 18 . In parallel to that BW were creating another set of numbers for the Broad and for some time had it as Bridge 4. Nicholsons (and Canalplan) use Bridge 20.

On this day in 2014.

At Hockley Heath, near the top of the Lapworth Flight.

Tuptonia. My Mum and some of her fellow ex Brownie and Guide leaders took the previous boat of the same name on a trip round the BCN some years previously. She wanted a photo if I spotted the boat, but it had been replaced with this one.
