From the Grantham Rally 2007: "Bullbridge Embankment in its hey-day, with a northbound express train passing under. The swing bridge allowed boat horses to cross the canal as the towpath changed sides. Most of the structure was demolished in 1968 for road widening; restoration of the canal would require a modern replacement"

A rising bollard on the Canal du Centre in 2009. These lock just over 5m deep have 2 rising bollards and fill from the bottom very quickly. Passing commercials leave dates of passing and destination on them . Bit similar to narrow boatmen writing messages on bridges and lock sides .
