Yesterday. The lengths some people go too to get a boat through a bridge.

The Fossditch is a few inches up after this weeks rain. This boat normally gets through Saxilby rail bridge with the stainless steel hinged but yesterday needed the bracket for the horns hack sawing off to gain another couple of inches clearance to get through!

Just now

Wolseley Bridge Br 70 T&M. Bright and dry morning, unnlike the wetness when we moored. Also moored here in 1999 and set off at 0530 with a vague plan to meet some Southampton University student bellringers who were seting off that afternoon on a hireboat from WillowWren in Rugby. By midnight, had just spent two hours down the prop with some wiry nastiness just past Hawkesbury Junction and that set our resolve to carry on and meet them for Sunday service ringing at Braunston. We arrived to some indifference at the earliness of the hour, 0730. And we weren't really awake for the bellringing. Entertainment at Rugby was passing a clubline hireboat whose crew were completing the transfer of amber liquids from Keg to Cut, without need of intervening clothes. All men. Elaine, who had been dozing at the front, was woken by the change of engine speed and waved cheerily from the front deck. As You Do.

IWA NAtional Festival Worcester racecourse River Severn. Collecting horses. The theme of the previous evening's illuminated boat parade was racing, and the dry-rubbish collection therefore acculumated lots of outlines of the single-use creatures

A lovely sunny, but, cold day today.

Only 4mph winds but the sailing yachts were out in force and not moving very much.

Had 2.5 knts of tide flowing and making 8.5knts over the ground.

Caernarvon marina and the turrets of Caernarvon Castle (Top right hand corner of picture)

Nice to be out !
