If only there were no weeds, it would be possible to read the sign as a reflection in the water. _sigh_

The same location 43 years ago.

Pinkston Basin Port Dundas. There was no navigable connection at that time.

Not a lot of it navigable in 2011

But some of it ...

In 2017 it's a Wakeboarding centre. I wonder if that counts as "navigation" ??

Yeah, it needs Scottish Canals involvement to get to it, so probably never going to be easy to get to.  Leaving aside the wake boarding, it's lock down, then lock back up into Port Dundas. Fair bit of water space in it, though. (and it's on the IWA silver propellor bucket list ;) )

Passing Roach on the main line as we were taking Scorpio and Leo to Audlem

Nice to see a boat properly loaded down to the top guard, and not merely halfway down.

Here is Roach at the 2010 Braunston Historic Boats, proving you can get a fully loaded boat down the offside of boats moored four abreast against the towpath.

Yes, it was me persuading my (then-)colleagues that having the Silver-Propellor location in Pinkston Basin would add more voices to the number of navigators wishing to do the journey, and improve the chances of having it more easily available.

So it's down Spiers Wharf Lock ,...
