One of those energetic canalling days: Cape of Good Hope to Old Turn ...

One of a sequence of energetic canalling days? It seems only a very short number of days ago you, but perhaps not your boat were at Weedon.

Yes the trip was organised around a talk to IWA Northampton branch (see p4) in Stoke Bruerne on Tuesday evening. We started from Streethay late on Thursday. We have five of us on the boat so there are always at least three lock-wheeling. On Friday we stopped at Hawkesbury junction (9h45m), then Saturday at Braunston (8h30m). Sunday to Weedon (6h) including the afternoon at the Military Dock then Monday past Stoke Bruerne to wind at Cosgrove (6h45m) then back to SB for the talk. The six of them  plus our five said they enjoyed it.

Then complications set in ...

Stoke Prior, Gas St, Icknield Port Loop to Walsall 2.5 days. Then no Trains Grrrrrrr

... similar to these. We needed to be in Leeds for a bellringers' election on Saturday, and there being no reliable trains, we needed to recover the car from Streethay Wharf via a bus, and the X3 Birmingham to Lichfield seemed suitable - hence the longer canally days. Wednesday Stoke Bruerne to (a few bridges from) Napton), Thursday to Cape of Good Hope, and then Friday to Old Turn. While two of were headed for Leeds, Copperkins headed for the Black Country Museum
