And If I remember correctly that delay at Wednesfield and others along the northern BCN put paid to reaching the official finish at Walsall Basin on time. So we just headed down the Tame Valley and onto the Birmingham and Fazeley, where we grounded solid on an electrical equipment cabinet in the middle of the canal in Erdington. And after failing to get ourselves unstuck, called out BW, who eventually winched us free at about midnight.

Today 2009 at Genelard on the Centre canal. This place was on the line of demarcation, the far side of the canal was in Vichy France and this side in German occupation. They built a museum here but it’s used now more as a library.
