Found a lovely beach on the Trent. Didn't do the impellor much good though after a farcical run involving four boats six engines and at one point only two engines working. We did eventually make it to Dunham though.

It's brown.  That should stop everyone complaining about blue signs ...

It also looks like it's primarily aimed at walkers rather than boaters given its got walking times to nearest 'points of interest' on it along with a 'walking' graphic.

Looks very similar to National Trust signs for walkers.  There is another one below Haywood Lock.

Gosh, I think I still have that body warmer somewhere! That was quite a "pioneering "trip. On the way up the Derwent we moored a 58 foot boat with about 4 feet near a very dodgy pontoon with the other end tied to a tree. Did the same on the way back down but facing the other way. I remember that it took 3 of us (none of us lightweights) jumping up and down to move a swing bridge.

Ah, memories,, thank you, Peter.

Yes, it was a bit of a squeeze; not many visitor-moorings on the (once-tidal) River Derwent (4-5May2002) The nice MrGoogle shows that the intervening twenty years has increased the capacity to about forty cruisers.

Iain hasn't changed much although his beard is now white :-).  That is a lovely photo of Mirk, a handsome dog with a lovely nature.
