Another short lived boater, more interested in being famous on Instagram and YouTube, then actually doing any boating hence the camera set up. Took him longer to edit his Vlogs then his actual trip from Tinsley to Sheffield😂

On this day in 2018, a frosty start to the day on the Middlewich branch. The hatch had frozen shut so required percussive maintenance from outside. The dog was desperate for the loo and stepped off the wrong side into the frosty water, after being fished out and doing the world’s fastest canine ablutions she ran back inside and spent the rest of the day sulking in front of the stove. We made it to Nantwich without further incident. A week or so later the Middlewich branch suffered it’s breach :(

Some years ago we turned up to Fulbourne between Christmas and New Year to find everything frozen, including the back cabin hatch which gives access to the only part of the boat which can be heated. The domestic water system, in the under-cloth camping accommodation was also frozen.  The only solution was to break the ice on the canal to get to water, heat up a panful of cut water on the gas cooker, then drizzle warm water over the back cabin hatch until it would open. Then we could light the stove!

And the next morning I had to drizzle warm water over the cylinder heads to pre-heat the engine, so it would start on the power available from the cold battery.
