Fye Bridge Street Bridge River Wensum Norwich (towards Whitefriars Bridge)

A familiar sight for us: that pub on the right is the Ribs, where we go for early evening drinks when we visit Norch two or three times a year.

What a magnificent structure.

It is impressive. We've seen it quite often, as we live only a few miles away. But I've never seen it working, and I'm not sure if it still does.

Still the end of the connected-and-navigable section of the Ashby Canal. There are stop planks in under the footbridge due to a breach of the new section, now repaired, and ongoing seepage into the adjacent field.

You couldn't have turned there anyway. The winding hole is nominally 52 feet, but we had to work hard to turn our 45-footer round.

Indeed. We backed Fulbourne up to the swing bridge, but would have backed all the way to the end if we had been able to.

We drive over that bridge quite often as it's only a mile or so from home. It's a dramatic view. So that boat was already moored there four years ago; it's still there, and appears never to have moved during the intervening time. Trivia note: the name derives from the original bridge which had three arches.
