The housing estate nearing completion in the background was built on the site of Reliant's Kettlebrook factory. The aerial view below shows the factory site, with Glascote Basin top right and the canal and Glascote Locks on the right hand side.

It slides in for towing and out when stopped for extra space. Look at the slight step in the roofline where the extending bit goes under the main roof.

 

 

I often think narrow boats would benefit from the same feature!

 

Nope, it's worse than that - it folds up like a trailer tent!
