Are you certain of the date of this post and the previous one? It seems a little odd that you should be at both Alrewas and Downham Market on the same day. I suspect a typo.

Aha, an excuse for more pictures of our two (co-owned) boats, which were navigating far-apart that day (yesterday in 2018)

... and at Marmont Priory Lock Middle Level. We reached March, but the sun was almost set, as they say. Much amusement waiting for the tide at SaltersLode, where the lock is too short for a 70' boat, which needs to wait for a level with the tides

On this day, they are all my pictures, having caught the daily (Sunday) train from March and a trip on Fulbourne, (this may be a slight underestimate of the train service), collecting the car from Downham Market, and then driving it to Loughborough (for some good logistical reason), and then another train to East Midlands Parkway to meet Copperkins moored above Redhill Lock.

In 2014 climbing up to the summit of the Burgundy canal, 55locks in 2 chains. This shot shows the gate opening /closing system. You push or pull on the lever which acts like a scissor to work the gate. There is also a latch to keep the gate open or closed although this isn’t always fixed and there is a horrible tendency for the bottom gates to start closing as you approach.
