My boat moored on the N Oxford at Braunston. Lots of noisy sheep. Baaaaaaaaa.

That's handy. If you can't get to sleep tonight you have a whole field of sheep to count.

A lost treasure of Auxerre, the covered market hall ,visited by myself and friends several times. Then, in 1975, it was no longer there, having been modernised into a car park. Cue a song by Joni Mitchell ...

Its disconcerting when that happens!

My children learnt to swim at the William Thompson Memorial Pool in Burnley (just across the road from Burnley canal embankment). Paid for by a wealthy local mill owner, who died just before it opened in 1974, it was a classic example of early 70s brutalism, but the facilities were superb. But nevertheless the council has since replaced it with the William Thompson car park. Not quite the same memorial to a local benefactor!

Today in 2013 the weir   alongside this lock on the r Yonne was being rebuilt. I didn’t fancy the tower Crane swinging over our heads. This lock is one with both sloping sides but luckily we were the only boat in it so could drift.

Staley Hall Lock No 8W  HNC, above which at Grove Road Bridge No 96  is a water point ...

spacer.png

and the lockable point had recently been amended by BW ... to the exclusion of a standard connector ...

spacer.pngspacer.pngspacer.png

If only it wasn't the HNC, it would be best to continue to the next waterpoint, but it's always worth trying to make it work:

... which was wholly unsuccessful, until pushing the tap round a bit solved the problem. The blue bit is the piece of pipe reoved by BW, making the tap that-much-lower in its metal housing.
