...HDSC_0206.jpgoisting the wheelhouse high helps in judging distances from the bank.

L2053_20130916_0056.JPG.e2fc90ced4ab233339896418dc51fc3b.JPGGosh. On this ride on HumberPrincess in 2013 - fuel oil to Rotherham on the SYSYN - L2053_20130916_0245.JPG.f40578d6b31e1657f6783bff89be95b2.JPGit's impressive that otherwise innocent trees, usually near a bend ('near in the context of travelling penalty-spot-to-penalty-spot-football-pitch) need all the steerer's skill and experience to navigate around, while other bigger nastier-looking trees are no problem at all. The message of which ones to remove seems to be lost in the layers of telling from (eg) the minister, the CE, to Head of Region, ... (all of whom have had similar rides) ... to boatcrew-with-chainsaws. Video of raiaing the wheelhouse here and more

On this day 2019

And looking from near the viaductP5112936a.jpg.16790327941acdedf9fce160d7f82069.jpg

This is one of my less-frequently-visited navigations, to which the picture below is a small clue

Niddy-Noddyand for those who don't use one daily, then clicking on it reveals what it is. If that doesn't help, there's always the fact of Ursula Southeil (c.1488–1561) being born nearby in a convenient cave. And if all else fails, Nice Mr Google has a map here.

Tell us how you got on - with your pic of "What is Nice on the Waterways", of course. Enjoy ?

I guessed Durham, so wasn't too far out. I have done that train ride, a rather fine view.

The legend goes that if the viaduct collapses the World will come to an end. Knaresborough if I live and breathe!

... shopping centre encounter with a survey-taker "Are you a regular visitor to Whitby?" "yes, I remember the excellent F&C from my last visit" "when was that?" "1969: regular but not very frequent"... But I always take pictures ...
