I cant. You need to edit it out yourself.

Or report your own post and ask a moderator to do it. ?

If your post hasn't timed-out, for editing, go back to it and edit your post.

It's done.

Duly removed as requested, though I can't see what harm it was doing.

Sending a PM to Martyn would be the best way to contact him.

Its not really about 'harm' as such but more about keeping personal information 'personal'.

Of course some people might not care and of course businesses do it all the time but generally its a good idea to keep things like personal phone numbers and email addresses out of public forums. Lessens the chance of nuisance calls and texts and spam in your inbox. IMHO only of course.

Yes, I gathered that Mr. Alsop is a boat safety examiner and that the number was one which he used in connection with that business. Sorry if I was wrong.

Ah right, looking back through the thread it looks like that is correct.

(Should have kept my beak out!)

Not at all - your intention was appreciated.

I have phoned and spoken with Mr A

It sounds like my examiner could have been a bit fast out of the trap .........but it worked for him , and for me.

Might have worked, yes. But might not be insured, operating when the scheme is suspended. Worth checking as you might not have any future recourse via his insurer should a problem arise.

Whatever might you require a BSS examiner’s Insurance for, after he’s departed the boat?

The  BSS certificate  valid to 2024 is showing on my C&RT account so that's  the end of it as far as I am concerned.

It certainly isn't fake news.

As proof check my boat on the BSS system to which you presumably have access .........White Angel  , Index 109615  date of BSS expiry 11th May  2024 ....and report back.

I would have thought these are BSS advisory instructions/guidelines, nothing to do with Acts of Parliament.

Common sense applied, the examiner is working, I don't see a problem.

I thought the BSC/ CRT was given a derogation for six months as not all  circumtances allow the examiner on board.

I wanted to get the survey done. It was due to be done in March just as the lockdown kicked in.

I'm the same, I would like to get out survey done rather than waiting as it was booked to be done the week lockdown started. Having spoken to the marina and the examiner hopefully it will be next week.

  • 1 month later...

How much do CaRT charge the examiners for each certificate these days?

The cost of a BSc seems to be increasing year on year despite there being no hard copy  provided now.

I would have expected that the CaRT element of the charge would have been cheaper now it is all online and

up to the customer to print off their own certificate.
