I had many a ride on these boats as a child along the curly wyrley. They towed several butties loaded with coal for wton power stn. They were only steered at the last boat. As to colour or should I say livery I recollect that some were a dirty red. If they wouldn't give a lift we would chuck coal at them. Very bad.
