What have i done to my batteries?

just a thought - to confuse things a bit.  Some so-called 'sealed' lead acid 'leisure' batteries can be easily converted to batteries that are vented and can be topped up.  In many cases the sticky labels on the top of the battery can be peeled back exposing a plastic strip that conceals the plugs in each cell.  This plastic strip can be levered off with a screwdriver and replaced at will.  Such batteries have a red vent plug at one end that must be removed before fitting the battery, which allows venting.
