House style for posts

Featured Posts

Hi. Being fresh meat on here I need to ask questions.

Is it possible to establish my own house style for posts? I was thinking of font, font size and colour settings that would always be my style without altering them every post.

I notice that many members have a personalised comment box or signature after their post, is this automatic? Can I have such a postscript box?

What is REQUIREabove the tool bar when creating a post?

I don't think so, it is 'economy' forum software and I have never seen the option on here.

If you click on 'report this post'  (top right hand side of your post - hover over the 'blue line' near the post number) it will go thru to admin and they maybe able to answer your question.

It's an option in your account profile (although I can't go and look while I'm typing this response!)

I think it's "Signature" which you'll find under "Display Name"

Thanks, have done that.

I don't appear to have "Display Name" or "Signature" or even account profile, perhaps because I'm new?

As above, you can set a signature.

So far as I'm aware you can't set a default none-standard font for your posts. I've not see this on other forums either.

Daniel

Thank you very much, I found Account Settings for a signature.  Gmail does have this facility, I hoped it was here too.

Please, what is the  "Required" in red over the tool bar?

See images below (but I can't seem to get them in the right order!!) The middle one should be at the bottom.

Thank you, I have now found Account Settings. Its just a form of forum software I am not familiar with, I'll get there eventually.

Seems there is no changing of fonts etc. long term, unlike Gmail.

Personally I really detest the idea of people messing with fonts, text sizes and anything else that affects how posts appear, particularly in situations such as public forums.  I find it exceedingly irritating that people think what they do should be different from what everybody else does, because it is very rare for people to do better than what is offered as the default.

In another life I have to carry out lots of communications with people by email for organisation of events, and I have some clowns involved in that who insist on sending materials with (for example) lime green backgrounds.  Why on earth would you do that?  I have to spend time removing this "clever" stuff before I pass those materials on to others, or I get complained to, even though I didn't do it.

If you find a way to achieve what you want, then please don't!

I was just seeking to add a little variety and personalisation (sic) to my posts,

I find the text too often be on the small size for my impaired vision. I am sure that this applies to others also.

I apologise if I have overstepped the mark, as a new member please cut me some slack. Guidance rather than criticism for me please.

Would it be in order to leave my signature as is or should I edit it? It is after all personal to me rather than for the passing of information generally.

I don't think there is a problem, just go with the flow ............ I have to increase size on most websites, I read this one at 150% and glasses.

Personally, I like my signature to "say something", a coded message if you like, others do the same, some mention specialist skills / interests / and even gender issues [ where is @Gayzingalone these days?]

Some folks get irritated by my woolieness, and they don't hold back ... I put this down to sense of humour failure, not my problem.

Stick with it ?

Hi Lady G, (and everyone else), I apologize for my silence but I'm still here and have been quite busy with many things. I have even managed to register for NHS and a doctor (always handy!). Tomorrow I am having solar fitted on my boat by Tom Malone with thanks for the recommendation to a valued member on here "Dyertribe".  I have also been painting (half of the boat) but will have to wait for the other side until I turn the boat around. I also ordered and received a great vinyl letters boat sign with my new name "huami" (lower case lettering) from "Funkymonkey" Boat-names and I am very pleased with it.

At the moment I don't have a decent camera on my phone but I am hoping to get the Samsung Galaxy 10+ very soon, in the meantime I will (try!) to post a photo with this post (if I can find out how to do it!).

12th and 13th (OMG it's a Friday!) (I20200302_100528.jpg.a85b2193a067f3a6a3b0eeab7ba63360.jpg'm not superstitious!) I will be taking the Helmsman's Course from "Willow Wren" and after that I look forward to passing and saying hello to anyone who would like to give me a wave .... or come and have a coffee!

Now to try and post a photo (????)

Thank you to everyone so far and I look forward to taking to the water,

neil

As one (of many?) baffled by your "Kansas" reference, may I ask what it's about?

Well, it could be from a film reference - The Wizard of Oz. To be somewhere unfamiliar or new, in general. ??

Just be aware that those reading the forum on a phone don't see members' signatures at all.
