Fairly relaxed up here in South Pennine Boat Club land. Watching the monitoring stations upstream and so far so good.  E.A. predictions suggest high water levels but hopefully not as high as last weekend. There's been a bit of a lull and the River Calder water level is falling at Todmorden,  Hebden Bridge and down to Elland (10.45pm).  Keeping an eye on the River Colne which comes down through Marsden and Huddersfield still going up.

Howzit going then, up north?

Down here it's a bit windy and rainy, but nothing particularly noteworthy yet.

Hebden was more or less shut today, all the shops had their floodgates back in place, some now of extra height, and many are now sealed in place with builders foam....its a right mess but better than muddy water. Rain less severe than expected and all ok so far, but more rain now and the Calder is predicted to flood at 4am. Alarm clock set. If the predicted height is correct then any flooding should be much less serious than last week.

Canal is about a foot down so has capacity to absorb a bit of water this time.

and....Vocation pub only re-opened yesterday, they have been open all day today and we did our bit to help their finances. ?

Pig Sty as in Pig Place? Do they now have an interior bar in the 'new' building?

Ooh yes. The bar is outside but we drink in the pig sty. Very cosy but not open to Joe public except Sat Sunday lunch at present. I do have the keys to the well stocked shop off licence which does help ?

Moored in Wheelock last night and like everywhere else the towpath is deep water and mud. The field over the hedge from the moorings is now well under water and the house/farm looks to be getting surrounded. Fortunately the canal is well above the field .

The inside of the boat is almost as muddy as the towpath with four human feet and eight canine feet going in and out.
